The on-line Financial Literacy Clearinghouse originates in the research project entitled “Financial Literacy: Financial Services, Education and Social Exclusion”, conducted by IFF from December 2001 to March 2003 and commissioned by the General Directorate for Employment and Social Affairs of the European Commission.
For whom is the Clearinghouse intended?
The Clearinghouse is intended for those seeking or providing educational products relating to financial services, such as advisors, teachers, researchers, journalists, as well as businesses or organisations contributing to financial education.
What does the Clearinghouse seek to achieve?
The Clearinghouse contains information about and sources of educational products relating to financial services in Europe.
Publish your own products in the Clearinghouse
You can enter your own financial education products (information materials or services) in the Clearinghouse’s database. To do this, you only have to register once as a provider in the Clearinghouse. After that, you can add information and update your material at any time.
Advantages of the Clearinghouse
Because much of the information about financial education materials and services is not available through traditional information sources, such as libraries or sales outlets, the Clearinghouse narrows the gap between providers and prospective users.
Advantages for prospective users
- A comprehensive overview of financial literacy products
- Easy means of contacting providers
- Improved advance selection of appropriate products based on several criteria:
- Target group
- Environment / situation
- Product areas
- Providers
- Media type / type of materials
- Language
- Country / Region
Advantages for providers
- Directly addresses target groups
- Large audience
- Narrow focus
Information - v - marketing
All contributions are welcome. However, we want to avoid misuse of the Clearinghouse by financial service providers treating it purely as a form of marketing for their products. Nevertheless, the Clearinghouse will not operate a general exclusion of financial service products that are principally informative in nature and intended as educational material. For that reason, we have drawn up Terms and Conditions for products that are to be entered in the Clearinghouse. |
